Detailed Information on Services
1. Initial Evaluations
In this 3-hour initial meeting your counselor will conduct a thorough interview of your goals and objectives, background, and personality distinctives. After understanding your specific needs, conflicts, and personality he will then give you a prescription of what is needed and an overview of the approach he would take to best help you reach your goals.

4. Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling provides excellent follow up for those who have completed AMC's. These shorter sessions can also be tailored for specific issues not addressed by the AMC's, Marriage Counseling Group or the Root Issues Group Intensive.

5. Marriage Groups
For those who have completed counseling with Christway Counseling Center, it is recommended that couples join a Marriage Counseling Group that meets 12 times a year. Meeting once a month offers needed accountability in a safe environment for couples to continually live out the principles they experienced in the individual counseling.

Group members learn from each other unique and creative ways to apply the subtle nuances of the concepts learned in the Accelerated Marriage Counseling. This group also gives an opportunity to deal more deeply with specific issues not dealt with in the Accelerated Marriage Counseling. Group members will often be the first to experience new material generated from the Christway Counseling Staff.

Frequency: Groups meet for 2-hrs once a month and are limited to 5 couples.
Cost: $35 an hour per couple
Time: Saturday's 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. beginning March 2008

6. How to Save Your Marriage Alone Group
When divorce papers are filed, 87% of the time one person in the marriage does not want the divorce. Trying to save your marriage alone can be one of life’s most challenging tasks, but it can be done, and God wants it more than you do. Your marriage may be damaged.  But it is not something that God cannot fix.  If the Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you and in your partner, He can certainly resurrect love, forgiveness, reconciliation or whatever is needed.

This monthly group gives needed support for individuals who want to honor God by keeping their covenant and want the nurturing support of others to commit to this goal. Practical steps address ways to maximize your chances for reconciliation while at the same time addressing needed issues to prepare for your partners return.

Frequency: Group meets once a month for 2 hours and limited to 10 people.
Cost: $35 an hour per person
Time: Saturday's 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. beginning March 2008

7. Resolving Root Issues Group Intensive

What is a Root Issues Group?

This intensive group is by far the most powerful and unique healing event possible. Nothing will heal past hurts more quickly or more thoroughly than this Intensive. It is a powerful way to experience God's promise of an abundant life relationally toward Him, in your marriage, in your family and other significant relationships.

Anger, fear, worry, anxiety, depression, addictions, controlling behavior, selfishness, condemnation, self-reliance are just a few of the painful issues that many couples find in themselves or their partner. In this Root Issues Group Intensive you will heal the source of these destructive issues and find true freedom, healing, peace and joy.

Most professionals agree that these destructive behaviors and emotions (and most other ills) are often linked to painful events and disappointments experienced over the years, especially struggles experienced in childhood. It is hard to see the connection at times because in those early years we are unaware of God’s ideal and therefore easily ‘normalize’ whatever childhood we did experience.

Some, for example, were negatively influenced by what they did receive (i.e. abuse) while others negatively influenced by what they did not receive (i.e. neglect). Whether intentional or unintentional; by sins of commission or by sins of omission, we have all been influenced by those in our past—whether we realize it or not.

Though it is true that our own personal response to these wrongs will make us bitter or better; as children we usually lack the maturity to respond to these hurts from God’s perspective. So we hurt. Even worse—we hurt alone. And it is not good to be alone (Genesis 2:18)--because comfort from others is God’s main prescription for emotional healing. Alone, we develop unproductive ways to cope (as modeled by our own family members) that create selfishness, self-condemnation or self-reliance leaving us more alone—perpetuating a cycle of pain.

This 4-day 37-hour intensive group is the best way to resolve stubborn root issues. It offers couples a structured and focused opportunity for personal healing and relational intimacy. Resolving unresolved hurts, anger, fear, shame, despair and discouragement within a caring, supportive confidential environment, couples quickly stop deteriorating relationships. This Root Issues Group addresses key events (painful and otherwise) in childhood AND adulthood.

These intensives also provide tremendous equipping opportunities for those in the people helping, caregiving ministries (i.e. Pastors, Counselors, Christian leaders).

What are the benefits?

  • Identifying and accepting God given needs for relational closeness with God and significant others
  • Discovering 12 key needs of men and women
  • Eliminating 3 unproductive tendencies that hinder our needs being met
  • Fully forgiving those who have offended us
  • Heal the emotional hurts we experience from our past that still affect us today
  • Overcoming fears of being vulnerable in a relationship
  • Heal conflicts between couples
  • Replace unbiblical thinking and acts with those truths that promote heart felt fellowship
  • Love God and others better

What is the format?

The intensive is a safe place to face pains and hurts from the past in the context of a healing community facilitated by professional therapists and marriage coaches. Using the advantages of a therapeutic community of 4 to 5 couples, you will learn and experience the essence of true community. Using biblical teaching, group discussion and confidential sharing, your facilitator will lead you to experience deeper intimacy with God and others.

Insurance

Your insurance may pay for a portion of your counseling. But there are few things you should know about insurance:

1. Christway Counseling Center does not check or file claims with your insurance company. We will give you a coded receipt for you to seek reimbursement. Therefore, if reimbursement is important it is important that you fully understand your policy coverage. The benefits to you are:

  • to keep our rates lower (not hiring an insurance staff)
  • to keep our counseling more biblical and not dependent on secular protocols
  • your insurance company will work more cooperatively with you the member than with the provider

2. Many plans do not pay for marriage counseling but in most instances one or both partners is experiencing something that is indeed covered by your insurance (i.e. like depression and / or adjustment disorder). If these conditions do exist, and they do very often, we can code your therapy accordingly. Note for example the criteria for adjustment disorder and depression (click here to see the example criteria).

3. If you need to use insurance for our Accelerated Counseling approach you will need to know if your insurance company pays for more than once session in a day. You need to ask the following questions:

1. “Does my policy pay for any mental health benefits?”

2. “Are there any limitations?” Here you are wanting to know if you be reimbursed for more than one session in a day. In a few rare situations insurance companies will give you 50 sessions a year but only 1 session a week. Our AMC will give you a receipt with 5-8 sessions performed in one day.

3. If you still do not get the answer you are looking for ask “Can I do more than one session in a day?” “How many can I have in one day?”
